Download free ZIP

Version 1.0.1 · 21.3 KB · GPL v2 or later

What it does

The useful parts.

  • Per-occurrence ALT review with nearby saved text and captions
  • Separate missing, intentionally empty and existing-text states
  • Two-step preview and save
  • Supports ordinary core Image blocks and modern Image-child galleries
  • Classic and Custom HTML support
  • Content-version, editor-lock and permission checks
  • No frontend assets or remote scan service

A straightforward start

  1. Download the individual plugin ZIP.
  2. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Select the ZIP, install it and activate it.
  4. Read the included readme for the plugin’s settings and usage.

Use a staging site first and keep a current backup. Downloads are provided without warranty under their open-source licence.

The same photograph can need different alternative text in different places. Jeet ALT Context Helper lets you review the saved image occurrences in a post or page, with nearby text and captions, before making a deliberate change.

Missing ALT, empty ALT and existing descriptions are shown separately. Empty ALT is a review state: decorative or redundant images may correctly use it. Choose a description or intentionally empty text, preview the current and proposed values, then save that occurrence.

What you can do

  • Search posts and pages and review 25 saved image occurrences per screen.
  • See nearby saved text, captions and a warning for images inside links.
  • Preview a proposed ALT change before saving one occurrence.
  • Keep Media Library ALT and other occurrences unchanged by this plugin.
  • Use normal WordPress saving and revisions when revisions are enabled.

Where it works

Version 1.0 supports ordinary Image blocks, including Image children in modern galleries, supported core layout wrappers, Classic saved HTML and Custom HTML. It requires an administrator who can edit the selected post.

Know the scope

This is a saved-content review tool. It does not render or change builder metadata, theme-generated images, synced patterns, featured images or CSS backgrounds. Custom/dynamic blocks, Cover/Media & Text, bound ALT and additional decorative settings require their original editor. Shortcode-like content is read-only. It checks up to 1 MB and the first 1,000 saved images per post. Nearby text is an excerpt, so a person must judge the correct ALT and check the page after saving.

The plugin checks content versions and native editor locks before saving. Avoid editing the same post in two places at once; normal WordPress and other-plugin save processing still applies. Automatic thumbnails are restricted to same-origin raster uploads. External/CDN sources are listed without loading a preview.

Free, GPL-licensed and ad-free. No account, telemetry, AI service, remote scanner, public-page branding or paid tier. Self-hosted ZIP updates are installed manually.

Frequently asked questions

Does it generate ALT automatically?

No. You choose a description or intentionally empty ALT for a specific saved occurrence after reviewing its context.

Is empty ALT always an error?

No. Decorative and redundant images may correctly have empty ALT. Linked images must also have an understandable accessible link name.

Does it replace Media Library ALT everywhere?

No. The plugin changes only the selected saved occurrence. Normal WordPress and other-plugin save processing still runs.

Does it support every builder and image block?

No. Ordinary Image blocks, modern galleries with Image children, supported core wrappers, Classic HTML and Custom HTML are supported. Custom/dynamic blocks, bindings, separate decorative settings and builder metadata must be edited at their source.

Does it send content to an external service?

No. There is no remote scan, AI service or telemetry. Only ordinary same-origin uploaded raster thumbnails are automatically displayed in the browser.

Can I use it for free on client websites?

Yes. It is GPL-2.0-or-later, free and ad-free, without a paid tier or public-page credit. Downloaded ZIP updates are installed manually.
