Keep time-sensitive notices current
Admissions, application windows and event announcements need a visible closing time. Deadline Notice Board keeps these notices in one place and gives your website a current list and a separate archive.
How to use it
- Install the individual ZIP and open Notice Board in WordPress.
- Add the notice title, formatted text and deadline. The editor shows your WordPress timezone.
- Publish it, then put
[jeet_notice_board]on your notices page. - Add
[jeet_notice_board view="archive"]on an archive page for notices whose deadlines have passed.
For a specific group, use [jeet_notice_board group="admissions" limit="10"]. Long lists have page links so older notices remain reachable.
What happens at the deadline?
On each uncached page render, the plugin compares the stored deadline with the current time. At that minute the notice disappears from the active list and appears in the archive. It does not need WP-Cron and does not change the notice's post status. The dedicated action link is hidden in the archive; links written in the notice body stay visible.
Who can manage notices?
Version 1 is for administrators with the manage_options capability. Draft, private, password-protected and deadline-free notices are excluded from the public board. Published notice text is public, so do not use it for confidential information.
Will a page cache affect expiry?
Yes. A cache can continue serving HTML rendered before the deadline. Use a short cache lifetime or exclude notice pages from full-page caching when an exact cutoff matters.
Does it run other shortcodes inside a notice?
No. Notices support safe formatted text without running nested shortcodes or third-party content filters. This keeps the board's rendering small and predictable.
What happens if I remove the plugin?
Notices, groups and deadline metadata remain for reinstall. Delete unwanted notices and groups inside WordPress before uninstalling if you want to remove that data. Ordinary content revisions do not restore deadline or action-link metadata.
